Our departure point is at Larissis Station at 7.30 a.m. and our trip is about to set off!! Having short stopovers for rest, we will reach the enchanting Meteora.
Arriving at Meteora, the view of the towering dark rocks is awe-inspiring. On their peaks and caves are nestled since the 11th century the Monasteries of Meteora. UNESCO has characterized Meteora as a “Preservable and Protected Monument of Humanity”. It is a unique geological phenomenon in beauty and an important monument of Orthodoxy. At first, we will make the round of the giant rocks that create a unique spectacle. Afterwards, we will visit the Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior (Great Meteoron), which is the first and largest monastery of Meteora, which was founded by Saint Athanasios the Meteorite in the middle of the 14th century. . Our next stop is the Monastery of Agios Stefanos, where those who wish can visit it and worship. The access to the monastery is very easy, since a small stone bridge connects the road at the entrance of the monastery. After our tour around these monstrous rocks of the ascetics, we will move towards Kalambaka, which is built at the roots of the rocks of Meteora. We will have free time to stroll around the city and lunch in the traditional taverns of the area. Those who wish, can visit the Natural History Museum and Mushroom Museum. Before our departure for Athens, wew ill have time available to enjoy our coffee and shop around the traditional shops of the area.
Departure for Athens around 19:00 in the afternoon with a stop over for some rest and a coffee. Arriving in Athens around 23:00 at night.
