SATURDAY
Our departure point is at Larissis Station at 7.00 a.m. and our trip is about to set off! Our destination will be Karditsa and in particular Plastiras Lake having some rapid stops for coffee and rest.
Arriving at Plastiras Lake, we will admire the jewel of the Prefecture of Karditsa, whose distance is about 25 klm from the town of Karditsa. A destination for every season of the year, “the lake of four seasons”. It is an artificial lake, which hides beauties, like picturesque villages, delicious food and a range of athletic sports (rowing, horse riding, archery and hiking). Free time will be available to admire the magical landscape of the exquisite lake with the deep light blue surrounded by high and overgrown mountains and thick woods and taste the delicious local cuisine. Afterwards, we will depart to Kalambaka to settle in our hotel and get some rest. In the afternoon, we will visit the beautiful Trikala. Sights, as the Kursum Mosque and the Clock Tower of Trikala are classical symbols of the town. We will have free time to walk along the Lithaios River and visit the Trikala Fortress. We could stroll around “the manavika”, a district of the old town of Trikala and have dinner in one of the various traditional taverns of the area. At night, we will return to our hotel for an overnight stay.
SUNDAY
After having our breakfast, at 09:00 a.m., we will depart with our bus with destination to Meteora in order to tour the gigantic rocks, whose spectacle is unique. The view of the awesome rocks impresses all visitors. It is considered as a unique, in beauty, geological phenomenon and an important monument of Orthodoxy. We will have a stop at Agios Stephanos Monastery for those who want to visit it and grovel. Later, we will move towards the Arch Bridge of Pili, where we will stop to admire the unique architecture and the beauty of the nature expanded around us and of course, we will take some photos. Our next destination will be the impressive mountainous village Pertouli. It is a village built in firs, which highly conserves its quaintness and when leaving, the taste and the memory of a traditional village remain alive. We will stay for lunch in a traditional tavern of the area. Early in the afternoon, we will visit the graphic Elati, a village characterized as a “jewel”, fully surrounded of firs. We will have free time for a walk, to enjoy our coffee and shop at the traditional market, where the wooden houses of local producers offer a wide variety of local products and souvenirs.
At 17.00 p.m., we will set off back to Athens having rapid rest-stops!
